Launceston bodybuilders Brad Fraser and Emma Morrison are the second best in the world. Picture: GEOFF ROBSONTASMANIAN power couple Brad Fraser and Emma Morrison can claim they are the second best fitness models in the world.
Mr Fraser and Miss Morrison, both of Launceston, competed at the International Natural Bodybuilding Association World Championship in Dubai last week and both came second in their pro fitness model divisions.
“It’s still a little bit surreal,” Mr Fraser, 25, said.
“You want to always do well, but we thought we are against the world, we’ve never been in this sort of situation before, so we didn’t know what to expect.”
The Launceston couple earned the right to represent Australia in Dubai after Mr Fraser placed third and Miss Morrison placed second in the national Pro Natural Bodybuilding Association qualifier in Melbourne in April.
In Dubai, Mr Fraser beat one of the men who had previously scored better than him, while Miss Morrison was out toned by the same woman from the Melbourne event.
“Coming into it I was expecting a similar result, because she’s pretty phenomenal,” Miss Morrison, 29, said.
“She’s in her mid-30s and has been doing it a lot longer and she’s a bigger body.”
The pair returned from Dubai on Friday and while they have enjoyed drinking ciders, eating burgers and the Easter chocolate they have had hidden away, they are about to get back into their diet routine.
Mr Fraser is training for the World Fitness Federation show in Melbourne in 12 weeks.
Miss Morrison is getting back in routine for the INBA Tasmanian State Championships, which will be held at the Albert Hall on September 20. They will then both compete in the national INBA championships in October, with Miss Morrison keen to take on the World Beauty Fitness & Fashion INC on the Gold Coast soon after.
The couple plan to have a rest from competitions next year.
